With temperatures expected to plummet below zero on Wednesday and Thursday, Williamson County officials aren't taking any chances as the area prepares for a third day of closures and cancellations.

Both Williamson County and the Franklin Special School District schools have announced schools would be closed Wednesday. While Nashville Metro, Sumner and Wilson County schools have closed for the rest of the week, officials from Williamson and Franklin Special School District both say they're taking school closures day-by-day.

Brentwood Academy will be also closed Wednesday due to icy conditions.

The main concern for officials is slick road conditions, which led to several accidents Tuesday.

Ice on the road prevented a Franklin police officer from driving to the scene of an accident in the Liberty Hills subdivision. Instead, the officer was forced to park his patrol car and walk to the scene, Franklin police said via Twitter.

Earlier Tuesday, the Williamson County Emergency Management Agency warned drivers to stay off the roads, including Interstate 65 where several 18-wheelers jackknifed and blocked the road between Murfreesboro Road and Highway 840.

On Monday, Franklin residents Kristi Clark and her 10-year-old son, Carter, were killed by a tractor-trailer as the two approached a rolled-over SUV to try to help the driver and passengers. Officials said the SUV was heading south on I-65 in Franklin when it hit a patch of black ice and rolled over around 9 p.m. Monday.

Franklin police continue to remind drivers that travel is not advised.

In order to give residents the scope of the conditions, both the city of Franklin and Brentwood posted links to real-time traffic cameras on their websites.

Brentwood public works crews worked throughout the day and were able to clear main roads within the city, according to City Manager Kirk Bednar. Bednar added that crews would be focusing their attention on some primary roads within neighborhoods with steep hills, but not every side road or cul de sac will be reached.

Brentwood Library and city parks remained closed Tuesday and the city has not made an official announcement regarding a potential Wednesday closure.

"We would hope to have the library open tomorrow but won't make a final decision until tomorrow morning," Bednar said in an email Tuesday afternoon.

Garbage and recycling collection was suspended Tuesday for both Franklin and Spring Hill.

Spring Hill City Hall will continue to operate under shortened hours from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the remainder of the week, according to the city's website. The city's transportation advisory committee, planning commission and board of mayor and aldermen meetings, originally scheduled for Tuesday evening, have been rescheduled for next Monday, according to the city.

Other government buildings and offices such as the Williamson County Circuit Court, Williamson County Chancery Court and Williamson County General Sessions Court will be closed on Wednesday because of icy road conditions, according to a news release.

The weekly concert series Music City Roots, which emanates from The Factory in Franklin, announced it has canceled Wednesday's show.

"We truly want the best for our fans, bands and the crew of MCR and for that reason we feel it's best to sit this show out," Music City Roots posted on its Facebook page.
