  • Music Row area has seen strong interest, prompting halt to rezonings.

A Nashville-based family trust has paid $1.32 million for a pair of Music Row buildings in the Edgehill Village area.

17 Family Land Trust bought the overall .34-acre site from Ernest G. and Jennifer Gendron.

Music City Tattoo occupies the 2,256 square foot building at 1022 16th Ave S., while musical instrument repair shop The Classic Ax is among music-industry related tenants in the 4,230 square foot building at 1024 16th Ave. S.

Stephen Prather, a broker with Chas. Hawkins Co. who represented the family trust in the transaction, declined to comment on its plans for the property.

The purchase comes as Music Row has seen strong interest from developers, which prompted the Metro Planning Commision in February to place a hold on rezonings pending a design plan for that area of town.

The pause came after discussions on a separate proposed mixed-use apartment project around the 1200 block of 16th Avenue South, for which buildings potentially eligible for the National Register of Historic Places would’ve been razed.

At one time, Rhinestone Wedding Chapel was also a tenant at 1024 16th Ave. S.
