Downtown Nashville's July 4 celebration is now a two-day event.

Before the main event on July 4 — a free concert with Martina McBride, Mikky Ekko and the Nashville Symphony — the city will host "A Prelude to the 4th" on Friday, July 3.

Nashville rockers The Weeks will headline the free concert, and will be joined by piano-based singer/songwriter Gabe Dixon, Elise Davis and DJ DU. The festivities kick off at 4 p.m. on the main stage at 1st Ave. and Broadway.

Both days of "Music City July 4th: Let Freedom Sing" are free and open to the public.
