Two days after the spring semester got under way, Michael Williams, one of two University of Tennessee football players accused of rape, enrolled for spring term classes at the Knoxville campus.

On Thursday, a day after the semester began, a university spokeswoman told The Tennessean that Williams had not enrolled.

On Friday, Williams enrolled, said university spokeswoman Karen Ann Simsen.

Williams is in the middle of his sophomore year at Tennessee. The other accused football player, star linebacker A.J. Johnson, graduated in December. Both players have been suspended from the team since Nov. 17 — a day after the rape is alleged to have occurred at Johnson's off-campus apartment.

The alleged victim in the case, a 19-year-old woman, has not enrolled for the spring semester at the university, which she once represented as a student-athlete. The Tennessean does not identify alleged victims of sexual assault.

No charges have been filed in the case, which was received by the Knox County District Attorney General's office in mid-December following an investigation by Knoxville police.
