Alt-rockers Garbage to play Ryman

The Tennessean

This summer, musical acts that first rose to prominence in the 1990s — Coolio, 98 Degrees and All-4-One are just three — are flocking to Nashville.  Add another one to the list: Garbage.

Rock band Garbage will play the Ryman Auditorium on July 20.

The alt-rockers, known for their fierce frontwoman Shirley Manson and mid-1990s hits like “Only Happy When It Rains,” will bring their Strange Little Birds Tour, which kicks off in France May 24, to the Ryman Auditorium on July 20. An opening act has not been announced yet. Tickets ($35-55) go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. online at ryman.com and at the box office.

This won’t be the band’s first time at the Mother Church of Country Music; they played the Ryman in 2005 while on their Bleed Like Me Tour.

On June 10, the band will release “Strange Little Birds,” its first album in four years and second release on their own label, Stunvolume.
