SEC Week 10: Viewer's guide, picks

David Ammenheuser
USA TODAY NETWORK – Tennessee
LSU and Alabama meet in big SEC West game on Saturday.

Barring a complete Florida collapse, the SEC East has been won.

The SEC West? It's very much still up for grabs. LSU is in the driver's seat, but the Tigers must get past Alabama in Tuscaloosa this weekend.

Dave Ammenheuser posted his second straight 6-0 record, pushing his streak to 15 games and to 62-14 this season. Who is he picking in this week's games? Click on the blue arrows and find out.

MISSISSIPPI STATE  (6-2, 2-2) at MISSOURI (4-4, 1-4)

When:

Thursday, 8 p.m. in Columbia, Mo.

TV: ESPN

The series: Missouri leads 2-0

Opening line: Mississippi State -8

Last week: Mississippi. State and Missouri were idle

Ammenheuser says: One of the few games on the SEC schedule this season that doesn't seem to drum up much interest. Missouri needs a win if the Tigers want to stay in the hunt for a bowl berth. But, really, what have they done to earn such a spot? Mississippi State 30, Missouri 10

--

VANDERBILT (3-5, 1-3) at FLORIDA  (7-1, 5-1)

When: Saturday, 11 a,m. in Gainesville, Fla.

TV: ESPN

The series: Florida leads 35-10-2

Opening line: Florida -21

Last week: Vanderbilt lost to Houston 34-0; Florida beat Georgia 27-3

Ammenheuser says: The injury-plagued Commodores face another difficult road game. This one is shaping up to look a lot like last week's visit to Houston. So similar, we'll project the same score. Florida 34, Vanderbilt 0

--
KENTUCKY (4-4, 2-4) at GEORGIA (5-3, 3-3)

When: Saturday, 11 a.m. in Athens, Ga.

TV: SEC Network

The series: Georgia leads 54-12-2

Opening line: Georgia -14.5

Last week: Georgia lost to Florida 27-3; Kentucky lost to Tennessee 52-21

Ammenheuser says: Two teams that are in tailspins. The loser's fan base is going to be outraged. The winner's fan base is going to get an emotional lift. It's amazing how Nick Chubb's injury has put Georgia coach Mark Richt's future in jeopardy. Georgia 28, Kentucky 20

--
ARKANSAS (4-4, 2-2) at OLE MISS (7-2, 4-1)

When: Saturday, 2:30 p.m., in Oxford, Miss.

TV: WTVF-5

The series: Arkansas leads 33-27-1

Opening line: Ole Miss -10.5

Last week: Ole Miss beat Auburn 27-19; Arkansas beat UT Martin 63-28

Ammenheuser says: Ole Miss fans have two big games to watch on Saturday. First, this home game against Arkansas. Then, the night game in Tuscaloosa. In one of those rare moments, they'll cheer for Alabama. If the Crimson Tide can upend LSU, Ole Miss has a chance to move into the front of the pack in the SEC West (based on tie-breakers). Ole Miss 33, Arkansas 19

--
SOUTH CAROLINA (3-5, 1-5) at TENNESSEE (4-4, 2-3)

When: Saturday, 3 p.m., in Knoxville

TV: SEC Network

The series: Tennessee leads 24-7-2

Opening line: Tennessee -16

Last week: South Carolina lost 35-28 to Texas A&M; Tennessee beat Kentucky 52-21

Ammenheuser says: The Vols are on the rise as their second-half schedule is considerably lighter than the first half. Just two wins away from qualifying for a bowl. Is this win No. 2 of a season-ending five-game winning streak? Tennessee 35, South Carolina 20

--
AUBURN (4-4, 1-4) at TEXAS A&M (6-2, 3-2)

When: Saturday, 6:30 p.m. in College Station, Texas

TV: SEC Network

The series: Texas A&M leads 4-1

Opening line: Texas A&M -7

Last week: Auburn lost to Ole Miss 27-19; Texas A&M beat South Carolina 35-28

Ammenheuser says: This season hasn't gone exactly as planned for either team. The Aggies still have an outside (yet difficult) shot at winning the SEC West. They have a date in Nashville against Vanderbilt  coming up. Could they make a return visit to the Music City Bowl? Texas A&M 34, Auburn 28

--

LSU (7-0, 4-0) at ALABAMA (7-1, 4-1)

When: Saturday, 7 p.m. in Tuscaloosa

TV: WTVF-5

The series: Alabama leads 49-25-5

Opening line: Alabama -6.5

Last week: Both were idle

Ammenheuser says: The game of the year. Both teams were ranked in the top four in the first College Football Playoff rankings. The winner has a big edge in the SEC West title chase and a potential spot in the playoffs. The loser will likely settle for second or third place in college football's best division and play in a lesser bowl game. Alabama 29, LSU 27
