  • Clinton will hold a Sunday rally in Nashville ahead of polls opening Tuesday.

As expected, Nashville Mayor Megan Barry is officially endorsing Hillary Clinton for president.

The Nashville Democrat introduced the former U.S. secretary of state when Clinton spoke at Fisk University in November.

In a tweet Friday, Barry said Clinton is ready to lead.

In November, Barry heralded Clinton for her support of expanding prekindergarten, reducing gun violence through stricter laws and increasing transit options.

“We know how important the federal government is and the crucial role they play in urban cities,” Barry said. “And I know that Hillary Clinton will be a president who gets it.”

Clinton will hold a Sunday rally in Nashville ahead of polls opening Tuesday. She's heavily favored in Tennessee: Several polls have her with a significant lead over U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, who hasn't campaigned in the state.

The details for the Sunday event have yet to be announced.
