Franklin High School senior Andrew Kochamba will job shadow Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday.

Franklin High School senior Andrew Kochamba really, really wanted to job shadow Jimmy Fallon.

But with no direct connections to "The Tonight Show" host, Kochamba turned to Twitter.

"Hey @jimmyfallon, can I shadow you for my Senior Shadow Day? It's October 14th. Let me know!" Kochamba tweeted last Tuesday.

Thousands of retweets later, Kochamba got the response he was hoping for: He'll shadow Fallon on Wednesday.

"I'm so overwhelmed and beyond thankful for everyone who helped get the attention of the show. It's just really awesome to see it come together," Kochamba said.

Kochamba said he wasn't initially serious about the tweet. But then it went viral.

The tweet was retweeted and favorited more than 1,000 times. People posted their own tweets with the hashtag #AndrewShadowJimmy. A few days later, Kochamba uploaded a video asking Fallon for a job shadow experience.

"It got way bigger than expected. It was contagious, I guess," Kochamba said.

For a few days, it seemed the campaign was a bust.

On Sunday, Kochamba tweeted: "Thanks so much for giving it your all, everybody. It means more than you'll know. And hey — there's a spring shadow day too."

Things turned around Monday. Gavin Purcell, a producer for "The Tonight Show," got in touch with Kochamba via Twitter on Monday afternoon. Purcell later connected Kochamba to Fallon.

Kochamba said he plans to head out to New York City on Wednesday morning.
