Around 450 American flags are expected to be displayed in Mt. Juliet at the corner of Mt. Juliet Road and Division Street for an annual event being moved to Memorial Day weekend this year.

The 4th Annual Field of Honor is held by the West Wilson Exchange Club and American Legion Tyler Cates Post 281 who each sell 3-foot-by-5-foot flags with 8-foot poles for $30 to raise money for charity projects.

The flags will be put up in columns on Thursday with opening ceremony at 11 a.m. Friday. The closing ceremony is at 2 p.m. Monday.

Flags will be on sale through the weekend for display and then buyers can take them home. Car flags will also be on sale for $5. Attendance is free and cameras are welcome.

Field of Honor has been held around Flag Day in June. Flag Day is on a Tuesday this year and the civic groups decided to try moving it to Memorial Day weekend after several requests, lead organizer Nancy Britt said. Organizers will evaluate whether to continue holding it over Memorial Day or around Flag Day.
