Comic Raymond McAnally brings show home to Franklin

Franklin native and comedian Raymond McAnally is bring his super-sized show to the Franklin Theatre in May.

McAnally, who has struggled with weight loss throughout his life, will perform his autobiographical show “Size Matters,” which consists of his impersonations of 15 characters who address topics from bullying to body issues. The show is a tale of his life as a “plus-sized” actor, new husband and role model to an admiring, overweight 10-year-old nephew.

“You know that moment where you see somebody you care about, and you see yourself in them? And you wish you could help them, and you think, ‘If I could just get me right, maybe I could help them?’ ” McAnally said in his show’s promotional video. “That’s what the show is about.”

McAnally, who is a Franklin High School alum, has appeared on stage, film and TV, including “Modern Family,” “30 Rock” and “Law & Order SVU.”

Shows are 8 p.m. May 1, and 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. May 2. Tickets are $35 to $45 and can be purchased at franklintheatre.com.
