A 92-year-old man was killed in a house fire Friday morning near Gallatin.

Crews were dispatched to the home at 147 Dobbins Pike at 11:31 a.m., said Sumner County Sheriff Sonny Weatherford. The victim is believed to be Paul Ferguson Sr., but investigators had not been able to confirm the identity as of Friday afternoon.

“There was only one person in the house and the family said that he should have been the only person there,” Weatherford said. “Again, we just need to confirm it (with the medical examiner’s office).”

The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the fire. As of Friday, no cause had been determined.
