Quick hits from Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt's press conference on Sunday:

Injuries: Team doctors have evaluated linebacker Colin McCarthy (shoulder) and center Chris Spencer (ankle).

McCarthy's injury, suffered in the second half against the Packers on Saturday, was "significant" according to Whisenhunt. The fourth-year pro is out indefinitely.

It's unclear how much time Spencer will miss.

Moving on: Whisenhunt wasn't in the mood to discuss his decision to discipline linebacker Zach Brown, who was benched for the first series against the Packers for violating a team rule.

"Zach has done some good things for us in camp,'' he said. "I have really said all I wanted to say about Zach and that situation last night. We are moving forward. Zach has an understanding of what he has to do. He has physical ability to play that position and he needs to continue what he has been doing, and that is to continue to buy in."

Standouts: Whisenhunt identified running back Bishop Sankey and safety Daimion Stafford as players who got his attention in the preseason opener.

As far as players who saw limited snaps, he mentioned defensive linemen Jurrell Casey, Sammie Hill, Ropati Pitoitua, Karl Klug and rookie DaQuan Jones.

"There's a number of guys who did good things, but there's also a lot of work to do,'' Whisenhunt said.

As for rookie tackle Taylor Lewan, who played 48 snaps in his NFL debut, Whisenhunt said: "He didn't do badly. I like Taylor, and I think he has a chance to be a good player."

Next up: The Titans go to New Orleans to face the Saints on Friday in the second preseason game. Whisenhunt said he hasn't determined how much action the first-teamers would see.
