Joey and Rory Feek meet a Santa Claus with daughter Indiana.

The Feek family is in the midst of what seems like a Christmas miracle.

Not only is Joey Martin Feek feeling well enough to get out of bed and enjoy the holiday season with her family – Santa Claus made a surprise trip to see the Feek’s in the singer’s hometown of Alexandria, Ind., this week.

Joey Martin Feek’s husband Rory Feek shared the story on his blog www.thislifeilive.com and said that while Santa “was a week early” he was really “right on time.”

The Feeks comprise the Grammy-nominated country duo Joey+Rory. Last year Joey Martin Feek was diagnosed with cervical cancer and underwent surgery to treat it. However the disease returned this summer and after months of intense treatments, the cancer continued to grow. She chose to stop those treatments in October and set a goal to live through Christmas. With the duo’s recent Grammy nomination, she set a new goal for herself – survive to see the awards show on Feb. 15.

With the early arrival of Santa Claus, special memories have already been made for this year – she got to see her 22-month-old daughter Indiana meet Kris Kringle.

Some friends of the Feeks sent a treat box to the couple and Santa delivered it. Rory Feek wrote that he wasn’t “your ordinary shopping-mall Santa” with a real beard, belly … and a heart for special babies and mama’s with no hair.”

Feek said he loved “Santa” immediately but it took their daughter a bit to get comfortable with him. The couple learned that the Santa was familiar with their music and nervous about visiting them because he wasn’t sure if Joey Martin Feek was well enough for the visit.

“I think once he saw my bride sitting on the couch and smiling when he came in, and enjoying the evening… he settled in and hopefully had as good a time as we did,” Feek wrote. “What a blessing this evening was.  Indy’s first time to meet Santa Claus… and Joey and I’s first chance to get to know him a little better.”
