Amy Grant signed up to bring some Christmas cheer to Appalachia this holiday season.

The Grammy winner will be the celebrity guest on The Santa Train. The locomotive carrying Grant, and a load of presents will embark on its 72nd voyage Nov. 22 to bring gifts to Appalachian families in need.

"I'm incredibly excited to be the celebrity guest on this year's Santa Train," Grant said in a statement. "It's important to give back to the community, especially during the holidays, and I'm glad I can help."

The train — with event sponsors CSX, Dignity U Wear, Food City and the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce also on board — will leave from Pikeville, Ky., and travel 110 miles through Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee to deliver toys and cold weather goods to thousands of children and families. The Santa Train will make 14 stops along the way.

Fans who can't be there but want to participate in the event, can use the hashtag #santatrain14 on social media to be a part of the Santa Train conversation.

In addition to riding The Santa Train this year, Grant has plenty more to keep her busy. The Christian singer is releasing her first remix album "In Motion: The Remixes" on Aug. 19. The album is available for pre-order on iTunes now and includes an immediate download of her remix for "Baby, Baby" that features Dave Aude.

After her ride on The Santa Train concludes, Grant and husband Vince Gill will play multiple Christmas shows at Ryman Auditorium in December. Those concerts are Dec. 3, 4,10, 11, 17 and Dec. 18. Tickets for those shows are $35-$125 and are available now through Ticketmaster at 1-800-745-3000 or www.ticketmaster.com.
