Titans lack star power, according to polls

The often-heard complaint that the Titans lack star power seems to be holding up this offseason, based on the results so far of NFL Network's top 100 players of 2014.

Could running back Bishop Sankey be a future star for the Titans?

The network is listing results from separate polls of fans and players, and they've counted down from 100 to 21 at this point. Not a single Titan has been included so far on either poll, and it's hard to believe any will make the top 20, which will be announced on the next couple of Wednesdays.

Those results aren't exactly shocking, especially given the fact that the Titans released running back Chris Johnson, the only player from the 2013 team with serious star power.

Does it matter that the Titans don't necessarily have recognizable names around the NFL world?

If the team wins and draws fans at home, then the answer is definitely `No.' After all, Nashville is a small market that doesn't get a ton of national recognition anyway.

On the other hand, I'm sure Titans fans would love to see their top players gain some national fame, since that generally means the team is also doing well.

What Titans might find their way into the top 100 poll of 2015?

--Wide receiver Kendall Wright has been highly productive for two straight years, though slot receivers don't always make the highlight clips.

--Wide receiver Justin Hunter has the kind of big-play ability that could lead to a big sophomore season.

--Rookie Bishop Sankey was the top running back selected in the draft, and he should get plenty of chances to pile up big yardage.

--If defensive lineman Jurrell Casey has another dominant 10-sack season, he should certainly make the top 100.
