At least nine Oilers/Titans have died since the team moved to Tennessee. Here's a look at the nine, and their impact on the organization:

STEVE McNAIR

Position: Quarterback.

Years with Titans: 1999-2005.

Died: July 4, 2009.

Cause of death: Murdered.

Age: 36.

Memories: On the field, McNair made a name for himself as a tough and rugged player. He was named co-MVP in 2003, but left a lasting impression with his play in Super Bowl XXXIV. McNair was approachable and generous in the community, but an unfortunate off-field decision in his personal life ultimately contributed to his death.

He had 1,032 points in his nine-year career, just 28 points behind Al Del Greco, the top scorer in the history of the Houston Oilers / Tennessee Titans organization, and he made 85.7 percent of his field-goal attempts (239 of 279) to rank fourth in NFL history in accuracy.

He was a member of the Super Bowl XXXIV squad, and was one of the 11 on the field for the Music City Miracle. Thomas was a likeable guy who finished his career with 1,973 rushing yards, 631 receiving yards and 15 total touchdowns.
