Forward Samir Sehic (21) led Houston’s Cypress Woods to a 35-5 record as a junior.

Vanderbilt basketball commitment SamirSehic — nicknamed "Big Boz" — added some size to the 2015 recruiting class on Tuesday.

Sehic, a 6-foot-9, 245-pound power forward with dual citizenship in Bosnia and the United States, announced his commitment to the Commodores at Cypress Woods High School in Houston.

He picked Vanderbilt because of its "perfect style and fit for me" over Wake Forest and Davidson.

"My biggest thing was that (Vanderbilt) Coach (Kevin) Stallings fits my game," said Sehic, who averaged 18 points and 14 rebounds at Cypress Woods last season. "Coach Stallings is the best coach around at X's and O's, especially for big men, and I like running plays. My style is pick-and-pop, and I've also worked a lot on my outside game so I can shoot 3-pointers and also play in the post."

Sehic led Cypress Woods to a 35-5 record as a junior. He also drew offers from Notre Dame, Penn State, Nebraska, Texas Tech, SMU and Houston among others.

"I only considered academic schools for my top schools. Once I made a list of those schools, then it became just a basketball decision," Sehic said. "I know I made the right decision, and now I've got that off my shoulders. I just want to focus on trying to win a state championship now, and we should be in contention this year."

Sehic's mother immigrated to the United States from Bosnia shortly before his birth. He was born in Atlanta and has lived in Dallas and Houston, but Sehic has gained dual citizenship with occasional visits to Bosnia, where he has received invitations to play for the national team.

Sehic is Vanderbilt's fourth commitment for the 2015 recruiting class, joining 6-11 center Djery Baptiste, shooting guard Camron Justice and swingmanJoseph Toye.
