An investment fund whose co-managing partner is former tennis great Andre Agassi has bought a 41,128-square-foot office building off Murfreesboro Pike with plans to lease it to a charter school operator.

Turner-Agassi Charter School Facilities Fund paid $1.5 million for the building at 320 Plus Park Blvd., according to property records.

San Jose, Calif.-based charter school network Rocketship Education, which runs Rocketship Nashville Northeast Elementary on Dickerson Pike, plans to open its second Nashville elementary school there next fall.

Shaka Mitchell, Rocketship's regional director, said renovations should start immediately to the vacant building that sits on 2.3 acres and was most recently occupied by seller Bostwick Laboratories. "At full capacity, the school will serve about 600 students," he said.

Earlier this year, Metro Nashville's school board approved Rocketship Education for a new school in South Nashville to help relieve overcrowding in elementary schools in the Glencliff and Overton clusters.

"In those parts of town, we just cannot build schools fast enough to accommodate all of that growth that's occurring," said Will Pinkston, who represents that area on the school board.

He also sees new schools as a way to fill empty properties in the Murfreesboro Pike and Nolensville Pike areas.

Henry Menge, principal broker at XMi Commercial Real Estate, is representing Turner-Agassi Charter School Facilities Fund. Barry Smith and Dan Bauchiero of Eakin Partners are representing the seller.
