Next summer, dragons, direwolves and white walkers will descend upon Music City. Last Sunday night, Watchers on the Wall — a website dedicated to popular HBO drama "Game of Thrones" and best-selling novelist George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire," the in-progress fantasy series it's based on — announced that the first "Con of Thrones" convention will come to Nashville June 30-July 2, 2017.

Watchers on the Wall has teamed up with Mischief Management, an organization that has staged other conventions celebrating Broadway and Harry Potter, for Con of Thrones. "It will be a celebration of all George R.R. Martin has given to the world, and what HBO and we the people have created because of it," Watchers author Zack Luye wrote in a blog post. "This convention is led by die-hard fans of the series, no detail will go unnoticed."

The season six "Game of Thrones" finale premieres on HBO at 8 p.m. Sunday. The convention website, conofthrones.com, is scheduled to launch in July. Until then, fans can sign up for the convention's mailing list to receive updates about tickets, programming, guests and hotel rooms as they become available. .
