Gallatin coach Bobby Luna says his team didn’t discuss revenge before Friday’s District 9-AAA quarterfinal with Station Camp.

A year after being eliminated by Station Camp, 49-45 in the quarterfinals, the Green Wave repaid the favor by knocking the Bison from post season play with a 61-49 win on Friday night.

“It’s a good win for us, we’re just glad to be winning and moving on,” Luna said. “I think that’s the most important part, it was a hard-fought game. It’s just a good win, it doesn’t matter who it’s against.”

Station Camp (13-16, 5-10 in 9-AAA) has had Gallatin’s (24-5, 12-3 in 9-AAA) number the last several post seasons.

“It’s definitely a great cross town rivalry,” Luna said. “We never discussed what happened last season because we have new guys and a new team. It’s a great basketball rivalry and we’re happy to be moving on.”

The Bison bested Luna’s Green Wave in the district semifinals in both 2014 and 2015 in addition to last season.

Octavin Arnold had 16 points while Zool Kueth added 14 to help the Green Wave advance to Saturday’s semi-final.

“It was a good win to help us get some motivation,” Kueth said. “The key for us to keep winning is moving the ball around and getting open looks. We have to be smart with the ball and limit our turnovers.”

Station Camp coach Seth Massey wasn’t disappointed with his team’s effort.

“From where we were a year ago, with what we lost, I thought this season was a great success,” Massey said. “I was extremely proud of how our team competed in a very tough league. We gained a lot of valuable experience this year.”
