Vanderbilt football will play at Notre Dame in 2018.

The game is scheduled for Sept. 15, 2018, in South Bend, Ind., according to news releases from Vanderbilt and Notre Dame Thursday.

It will be the teams’ third all-time meeting, as they played a home-and-home series in 1995 and 1996. The Fighting Irish won 41-0 at Notre Dame on Sept. 16, 1995, and then they won 14-7 at Vanderbilt in the Sept. 5, 1996, opener.

Vanderbilt posted a 6-7 record last season, capped by a 41-17 loss to North Carolina State in the Independence Bowl. Notre Dame went 4-8 last season for its first losing record since 2007.
