U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., is scheduled to swing through Nashville on March 31 for a private fundraiser that is getting assistance from Mayor Megan Barry, among other Nashville Democrats.

The fundraiser, organized to benefit Warren's 2018 Senate re-election, will take place at the home of prominent Nashville developer Bert Mathews and his wife, Brooks. Barry is listed as a special guest for the event on an invitation that suggests a range of contribution levels to attend, spanning from $500 to a maximum $2,700.

Additional fundraiser hosts include Nashville attorney and former mayoral candidate Charles Robert Bone, former Tennessee Democratic Party Chairman Chip Forrester, investor Roy Dano, Vanderbilt University Law School professor Ganesh Sitaraman, former Nashville Lifestyles magazine editor Bill Ditenhafer and Shanna Hughey, president of ThinkTennessee, a new Tennessee policy think tank.

Nashville's U.S. Rep. Jim Cooper, D-Tennessee, also plans to attend the fundraiser, a congressional aide confirmed.

Warren, a former Harvard Law School professor elected in 2012, has emerged as one of the leading liberal voices in the U.S. Senate and one of the harshest critics of President Donald Trump during his short time in office. Warren is considered a possible Democratic candidate for president in 2020.
