Will Vanderbilt sink at The Swamp vs. Florida? We're not so sure

Adam Sparks
The Tennessean
during the second half at Dudley Field Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, in Nashville, Tenn.

Vanderbilt will try to rebound. No. 20 Florida will try to ride its run of good fortune.

The Commodores (3-1, 0-1 SEC) are coming off a 59-0 loss to No. 1 Alabama. The Gators (2-1, 2-0 SEC) have pulled out two late wins over Tennessee and Kentucky. They will meet in The Swamp at 11 a.m. Saturday on ESPN.

Despite Florida being a 10-point favorite, our panel is split on picking this game. Here are our predictions for Vanderbilt at Florida:

John Adams (columnist)

Florida 24, Vanderbilt 13: The Commodores had the misfortune of playing Alabama last week. Florida has the good fortune of having the luckiest coach in America on its sideline.

Dave Ammenheuser (sports director)

Vanderbilt 28, Florida 24: Call me crazy. Commodores bounce back from lopsided loss to perhaps biggest win in Derek Mason era.

Joe Rexrode (columnist)

Florida 19, Vanderbilt 17: Vanderbilt is better than Florida, and Vanderbilt will bounce back from the Alabama humbling. But Florida is the Roadrunner of this conference, finding creative ways to escape with wins each week. Vandy plays Wile E. Coyote this time.

Adam Sparks (Vanderbilt beat reporter)

Vanderbilt 20, Florida 19: Vanderbilt sneaks up on Florida after the huge Alabama loss. And the Gators' living-on-the-edge approach finally slips up. Following Vegas is the most practical way to predict games, but a rare hunch says this one goes to the Commodores in an upset.
