Top Sumner high school football games to watch for Week 10

Here’s a look at five key Sumner County high school football games for Week 10 of the 2017 season.

Gallatin (6-2, 3-0 in Region 6-5A)
at Beech (8-0, 3-0)

Friday, 7 p.m.

A win combined with a Hillwood loss to Hillsboro gives the winner the region title. Beech running back Kaemon Dunlap leads the top-ranked Buccaneers with 154.5 rushing yards a game and 18 TDs. Beech has won the past five meetings. Beech is averaging 41.5 points a game while the Green Wave allow 28.1 points.

Rossview (5-3, 2-1 in Region 4-6A) 
at Hendersonville (5-3, 2-1)

Friday, 7 p.m.

Two of the top running backs in the Nashville area face off in a key game to determine playoff seeding. The winner stays in position for a possible top-two finish in league play. Fred Orr leads Rossview with 137.8 rushing yards a game and 18 rushing TDs. Anthony Hughes averages 107.8 rushing yards a game with 11 rushing TDs. However, quarterback Brett Coker averages 141.5 passing yards a game for the Commandos.

Station Camp (1-7, 0-3 in Region 4-6A)
at Mt. Juliet (8-0, 3-0)

Friday, 7 p.m.

Station Camp will try to play the role of spoiler against the third-ranked Bears, who have given up just 23 points all season. Station Camp's offense is averaging 23.4 points a game. Mt. Juliet senior Aidan Raines leads the offense, averaging 112.0 rushing yards a game and has scored 17 rushing TDs.

Pope John Paul II (4-4, 1-4 in DII-AAA East/Middle) at Ensworth (6-2, 3-1)

Friday, 7 p.m.

Quarterback Ben Nixon leads the JPII passing game with 153.0 passing yards a game with eight touchdowns. The Knights are coming off a 51-34 win over Hillwood on Oct. 5. Ensworth is riding a three-game win steak and beat rival MBA 10-7 on Oct. 6 in the Tigers' most recent game. Nicky Clifton leads the Ensworth run game with 118.6 yards a game and 12 rushing TDs.

Montgomery Central (1-7, 1-3 in Region 5-4A) at White House (8-0, 4-0)

Friday, 7:30 p.m.

White House inches a step closer to an undefeated regular season. Quarterback Andrew Nixon averages 123.5 passing yards a game with 10 TDs this season. Teammates Preston Sharber (317 rushing yards) and Will Frazier (229 rushing yards) leads the Blue Devils' run game. Montgomery Central is averaging just 6.4 points a game.
