A judge set the trial date for the man accused of killing country singer Wayne Mills for Nov. 17.

Chris Ferrell, 44, is charged with second-degree murder and is free on $150,000 bond in the Nov. 23 killing of Mills. On Friday, Ferrell's attorney, David Raybin, asked the judge to remove a GPS bracelet that Ferrell has been forced to wear.

Criminal Court Judge Steve Dozier denied the motion, but capped the costs Ferrell is required to pay for that monitoring to $100 per month. He then set the November trial date.

Authorities say Ferrell was at his bar, Pit and Barrel, when he shot Mills, 44. Ferrell has argued that the shooting of his friend was in self defense, but an autopsy released earlier this year said Mills was shot in the back of the head.
