The company is one of the city's leading home improvement firms and has been serving Middle Tennessee for more than 35 years.

What's a recent event that highlights what makes your company so special?We held a silent auction for the Nashville Rescue Mission. It was an awesome employee-driven event to raise money. We also recently had a pet adoption day at our showroom and had six pets adopted that day, while also raising $1,000 in donations for a local pet nonprofit.

What's a recent event that highlights what makes it special? The company took part in the annual raising of the state Christmas tree at the Tennessee State Capitol.

Avenue Bank

Boost FitClub

What does the company do? Boost FitClub is Nashville's first performance/wellness center. The 85,000-square-foot facility sits on 11 acres in Belle Meade across the street from the city's largest hiking park. The club's state-of-the-art facility offer fitness classes, a holistic café, 30,000 square feet of indoor turf, a saltwater pool and baseball training facilities.

What's makes the company special for employees? Each year, in keeping with the open-book management style, the company organizes "mini-games." This is a process where the employees identify an area or areas in the company in which they believe there are opportunities to make improvements. They develops ways to improve and measure the outcome. At the end of the game, if the team has "won," the entire company takes a day off to enjoy an outing together. This year, the team won by adding more than $150,000 to the bottom line through improved efficiency. The entire team spent a day at a farm competing in "The Redneck Olympics," which includes skeet shooting, fishing, mountain bike racing, cornhole and good food.

What's a recent event that highlights what makes it special? We enjoyed a very successful fall festival. Holy Rosary Academy was also named as a 2013 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education.

What does the company do? InfoWorks Inc. is a business and technology consulting firm which has been headquartered in Nashville since 1997. What's a recent event that highlights what makes it special? We just finished a contest in which our employees guessed the InfoWorks stock price after having our 2013 valuation prepared. We annually have a holiday party and a fall cookout for our employees and their spouses or a guest. We have a social committee whose goal is to keep employees connected and engaged, both inside and outside the normal workday. We host a monthly happy hour where team members can unwind at a local pub. We annually have an outing for employees and their families; past outings have included ziplining, a zoo outing and a Sounds baseball game. We also have upcoming plans for a self-defense class for women and an App-etizer Day, where team members can show off their culinary skills.

M3 Technology Group Inc.

What does the company do? M3 Technology Group has been a leading audio-visual, video conferencing and structured cabling system design, integration and service provider to the Southeast's top companies and institutions since 2003.

What's a recent event that highlights what makes it special? Teamwork and camaraderie are a very important part of what makes M3 a great place to work. Both of those things were on full display at M3's employee appreciation outing, held at Music City Indoor Karting. Each employee was able to participate in three eight-minute races on the kart track, with trophies awarded for first, second and third place.

McNeely Pigott & Fox Public Relations

What does the company do? McNeely Pigott & Fox is a full-service public relations and marketing communications firm. MP&F's Nashville office, located in the heart of downtown in the Renaissance Hotel, is home base to the majority of the firm's 65 staff members. As one of the largest independent PR firms in the Southeast, the firm provides communications services for a diversified client mix at the local, regional and national levels.

What's a recent event that highlights what makes it special? About 6 weeks before our annual fall retreat, we divided staff into groups and asked each group to select a charity or organization to support. At our retreat party, each group gave a presentation on what it did to support the organization. Staff voted on a favorite project. Since prom was the theme, the team with the most votes had their two attendants named prom king and queen. It was a great project that benefited many local organizations and cranked up our staff.

MidSouth Bank

What does the company do? MidSouth Bank offers a range of banking services, including checking, savings, money market accounts, certificate of deposits and loans for consumer, commercial and real estate purposes. Additionally, the bank offers complete wealth management solutions, as well as a full-service mortgage department. MidSouth currently operates from its main office and four branch offices located conveniently throughout Rutherford County.

What's a recent event that highlights what makes it special? Our bank just celebrated its 10th anniversary. We recognized this milestone with open houses at all of our locations, as well as an employee dinner/party at the local county club that included spouses/significant others.

Newton Nissan

What does the company do? Newton Nissan is an auto dealership based in Gallatin.

What's a recent event that highlights what makes it special? We have two Christmas parties. This past year, we had one for the adults at the DoubleTree downtown and provided dinner and entertainment by the Big Bang. We also had a Christmas party for the kids of our employees, where Santa came and gave each child a gift.

What does the company do? RE/MAX Elite is a full-service real estate company serving both residential and commercial clients in Middle Tennessee, with offices in Brentwood, Columbia and Nashville.

What's a recent company highlight? Carrie Zeier, owner/CEO of RE/MAX Elite, received the Howard McPherson Eagle Award from RE/MAX Regional Services in April. This award is given to one person in our region (Detroit to Atlanta) each year. It is awarded based on overall ranking, the Showcase report, net gains, net losses, Broker First participation and other criteria.

Saint Bernard Academy

What does the company do? Saint Bernard Academy is an independent Catholic elementary school serving more than 320 students in prekindergarten through eighth grade. SBA is located in the heart of Nashville, just blocks from Vanderbilt University and Belmont University. What's a recent event that highlights what makes it special? We hosted a company picnic in October 2013 in which Tennessee Titan Tommie Campbell, the Titans cheerleaders and T-Rac made appearances. Turner Construction

Advance Financial

What does the company do? Advance Financial is a financial services provider in Tennessee serving its customers 24/7 at more than 60 locations.

What's a recent event that highlights what makes it special? This year, every Advance Financial store began offering free bill pay services to our customers, becoming the first financial services retailer to do so. Customers can now pay their bills to any of Advance Financial's comprehensive list of 1,500 payees, including utility, telecom, vehicle and credit card companies. By waiving all fees for bill pay services, Advance Financial will save its customers more than $100,000 in fees annually.

American Blue Ribbon Holdings

What does the company do? American Blue Ribbon Holdings is a diversified food service company that operates or franchises more than 640 company and franchise restaurants in 43 states. ABRH brands include O'Charley's, Ninety Nine, Max & Erma's, Village Inn, Bakers Square and Legendary Baking.

How do you give back to the local community? The culture we have and the communities we serve are a big part of the American Blue Ribbon Holding's story. What does the company do? Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP has more than 440 attorneys in seven offices and is one of the largest law firms in the Southeast. BABC's Nashville office has more than 100 attorneys and a 100-year history in the city. What's a recent company highlight? Construction was just completed to expand the Nashville office of Bradley Arant Boult Cummings in the Roundabout Plaza Building. What's a recent event that highlights what makes it special? Our summer outing is truly a great day for our employees and their families. In late June, we will provide our employees with the day off to travel to the designated city with their families. We will provide the employee and their families with tickets to a local attraction, such as Rock City in Chattanooga or Dollywood in Pigeon Forge. At the end of the day, we will meet for a catered dinner with co-workers.

How does the company give back to the community? Each year, we collect and deliver thousands of pounds of food to community food banks. We welcome home our veteran heroes. We've rebuilt a school and helped businesses and people recover from Nashville's great flood, including rebuilding the state-of-the-art mechanical systems at Nashville's Schermerhorn Symphony Center.

What does the company do? The Nashville Predators has one goal, which is to bring the Stanley Cup to Nashville. All employees of the organization are united behind this goal and make every effort to ensure that our fans and season ticket holders have a memorable experience each and every game.

What's a recent event that highlights what makes it special? During the recent Olympic break, the organization was able to keep hockey at the forefront of our fans' minds by hosting Winter Wonderland. During this two-week stretch, our organization opened its doors to the community and hosted multiple watch parties, which featured Olympic-style events such as curling and air hockey. We also sent staff out into the community to volunteer with local charities each and every day of the Olympic break.

What's a recent company highlight? One recent highlight is the opening of our social enterprise SMART! What does the company do? Whole Foods Market Inc. owns and operates the world's leading chain of natural and organic food supermarkets. According to Fortune, WFM ranks as the eighth-largest food and drug company in the U.S. and the 232nd-largest company overall.

What's a recent event that highlights what makes it special? Throughout the holiday season, the Green Hills store wanted to show our support for the Nashville community, but also wanted to invite our customers to participate, as well. During that time, the store raised more than $52,000 for Second Harvest Food Bank.
